Guillermo Del Toro is Recruiting Extras in St. Thomas, ON

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Sep 21, 2018

Guillermo Del Toro is considered an honorary Torontonian by most, thanks to his habit of making films in the Toronto area and turning monsters into art at the city's most prestigious art gallery. And while his latest project is once again filming in the Toronto area, the director is looking for some help from folks a little west of the city.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is looking for 100 extras to appear on camera for a shoot happening in St. Thomas, ON (just south of London).

The casting call specifies that men and women over the age of 30 are needed, preferably with conservative hairstyles for men and shoulder-length or shorter hairstyles for women, as it's a period piece set in 1968.

The crew will be filming in St. Thomas four days, from September 24 to 27.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is a film based on the children's horror series by Alvin Schwartz. Del Toro and co. started filming last month in the Toronto area.

Del Toro won the Oscar for Best Picture last year for The Shape of Water — which was filmed in Toronto, Hamilton and surrounding areas, and premiered at TIFF.
