The Good Girl

Mike White (Freaks and Geeks, Chuck & Buck) is slowly building an accomplished body of work, but he definitely nailed his first gem with The Good Girl. Jennifer Aniston gives her finest big screen performance yet as Justine, a woman who fantasises escape from her retail job and loveless marriage to a pot-smoking husband (John C. Reilly). Co-worker Holden (Jake Gyllenhaal), piques her interest and the two begin an affair that Holden takes to a disturbingly obsessive plateau. The DVD includes some worthwhile deleted scenes, but the most captivating material is found in the original film. There are so many touching moments in The Good Girl and there's no denying such a strong cast and exceptional writing. Extras: Commentary by Arteta and White, selected commentary by Jennifer Aniston, deleted scenes, gag reel. (Fox)
