The Girls Next Door: Season Four

Shortly after Kendra refers to Prince Albert II as a "motherfucker," she asks the inevitable question, while passing by the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, "Whoa, how the fuck did they build that?" Indeed, Kendra: how did they? She then goes on to point out that she "liked that the Prince looked at my boobs a lot," which Grace Kelly's son was apparently unimpressed with, at least according to the commentary track on the episode. Later in the season, Holly decides to redecorate the Playboy photography studio, as the artwork features too many "big '80s bushes." In the episode where Holly decides to make a chocolate sculpture of her vagina for Hef's birthday, this distaste for pubic hair is examined with greater scrutiny, on a literal level. While many men surely watch this reality television show about Hugh Hefner's girlfriends for the "boobie" factor, many others watch it trying to figure out what is really going on behind the friendly smiles and awkwardly staged conversations and scenarios. This three-disc DVD set features commentaries from Bridget, Holly and Kendra on every episode, which alludes to Hef's occasional off-camera, mercurial rants, along with some bitter remarks about other playmates, who the girls seem to love within the text of the show. This latter more analytical crowd might enjoy the DVD set for the explicit purpose of finding out a little more about what goes on when the cameras are off. Others might simply find amusement in seeing Bridget's dog in a swimsuit, without irony, and listening to Kendra prove single-handedly that you can take a girl out of the trailer park but you can't take the trailer park out of the girl. Anyone who might want to dispute this statement should view the episode where Kendra makes a white chocolate sculpture of her butt, and then paints the bum hole region with dark chocolate to symbolize poop. On the commentary track, she then indicates that she was menstruating at this time, which led to some "jam-like" stains coming out on the cast of her hindquarters. Also featured this season is an episode where Pamela Anderson randomly runs around completely nude for several minutes. Ew. The DVD set includes many deleted scenes, which seem mostly to have been cut for lack of nudity and humorously ignorant statements.
