'Game of Thrones' Is Getting Roasted for Leaving a Coffee Cup in One of Its Shots

Fans are having mixed reactions — and absolute meltdowns both positive and negative — as the final season of Game of Thrones unfolds on television. While some stars think the shows critics can go fuck themselves, some criticisms of the show might be warranted. For example, they seemed to have accidentally left a coffee cup in a shot last night (May 5).

Around the 17:40 mark of Season 8, Episode 4, Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) is sitting at a table with what appears to be a paper coffee cup. Someone was apparently sipping bean tea while setting up the shot and forgot to dispose of their java cup!

While the internet is convinced it's a Starbucks cup, we're not entirely certain. Then again, since Game of Thrones is an elevated fantasy show, maybe it's safe to assume that there's a hip roastery nearby, and they just haven't mentioned it until now. Hell, maybe the last two episodes will see Jon Snow applying for jobs from his laptop in a cafe.

UPDATE (5/6, 3 p.m. EDT): Some reps from GoT are now addressing the coffee cup controversy, confirming the crew most definitely left a cup in the shot. While speaking to Variety, art director Hauke Richter said the whole thing was being "blown out of proportion [because] it has not happened with Thrones so far." Ritcher also admitted it was indeed a coffee cup left in that shot, telling TMZ, "We are usually so diligent that this does not happen. The shoot was very hard and demanding and it is likely that after a very tiring episode three shoot, this was simply overlooked by an exhausted crew."

Either way, check out the internet's reaction to the Game of Thrones coffee cup below.
