Published Jul 31, 2017French actress, screenwriter and director Jeanne Moreau has passed away at the age of 89. She was reportedly found dead at her home in Paris today (July 31).
The Parisian film star was perhaps best known for her role as Catherine in François Truffaut's 1962 French new wave classic Jules et Jim.
She also received accolades for her performances in films like Seven Days… Seven Nights (1960), Viva Maria! (1965) and The Old Lady Who Walked in the Sea (1992). She received the Honorary César as a lifetime achievement award in 2008.
Orson Welles once described her as "the greatest actress in the world."
