Fred Armisen, Tim Heidecker and John C. Reilly are all coming together for a new series called Moonbase 8.

The show has just been picked up by Showtime, and it's due to premiere this fall. With A24 onboard producing, the show is being co-created by Armisen, Heidecker and Reilly, who are all also starring in the show. It also features director Jonathan Krisel, who is best known for his work on Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule and Baskets.

As you can tell from that promo shot above, Moonbase 8 is space-themed series, with the show being set in an isolated Arizona desert at NASA's Moon Base Simulator. Armisen, Heidecker and Reilly play a trio of eager astronauts looking to qualify for their first lunar mission.

"In a year when we have all been forced to come to terms with life in close quarters, we are happy to have landed this offbeat take on life in captivity with dreams of escaping to something grander," said Showtime's Jana Winograde in a statement. "While the show was produced before the pandemic, its subject matter is timely — and thanks to Fred, Tim, John and Jonathan, its humour is timeless."

As of yet, no firm release date for Moonbase 8 has been set.
