At long last, the hugely popular Fallout video game series is getting its own TV series.

Today Amazon Studios confirmed the show is headed to Prime Video — and it's being helmed by the Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy.

The pair's Kilter Films will be producing the Fallout TV series alongside Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks.

For some actual proof, you can check out a teaser below.
For the unfamiliar, Fallout is set in a post-apocalyptic world, offering up an alternative history and one seriously grim wasteland version of Earth. Released on multiple platforms, the first game arrived back in 1997, with multiple sequels being released over the years.

"Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time," Joy and Nolan said in a joint statement. "Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends. So we're incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios."

Amazon Studios' Albert Cheng added, "Fallout is an iconic global franchise, with legions of fans worldwide and a rich, deeply compelling storyline that powers it. And Jonah and Lisa are the perfect storytellers to bring this series to life. We're thrilled to join with Bethesda to bring Fallout to television."

Rumours of a Fallout TV series have been circling for nearly a decade, and while we don't have any release date yet for the show, this announcement has indeed been a long time coming.

"Over the last decade, we looked at many ways to bring Fallout to the screen," said Bethesda's Todd Howard. "But it was clear from the moment I first spoke with Jonah and Lisa a few years ago, that they and the team at Kilter were the ones to do it right. We're enormous fans of their work and couldn't be more excited to work with them and Amazon Studios."

As for Westworld, the show wrapped its third season earlier this year on HBO. The series recently announced it would be back for Season 4.
