Entourage The Complete Fifth Season

Entourage The Complete Fifth Season
To keep fans satiated, all the folks behind Entourage have to do is continue following Vince and his hangers-on as they take in all that Hollywood has to offer a young, upcoming star. So it's to their credit that the show's fifth season instead chose to kick the star while he's down. Following the disastrous screening of the self-produced Medellin at Cannes that closed the previous season, season five finds Vince (Adrian Grenier) and his boys in a state of limbo. Vincent Chase is on the verge of bankruptcy and persona non grata around town. Even his superstar agent Ari (Jeremy Piven) can't land him a job. When he finally nabs a supporting role on the Jason Patric vehicle Smoke Jumpers, Vince soon clashes with the German director (Good Will Hunting's Stellan Skarsgard). Meanwhile, his manager E (Kevin Connolly) continues to expand his fledgling management company and once again comes into conflict with a manipulative Seth Green. And in perhaps one of the best episodes the series has ever produced, Vince, E, Drama, Turtle and Ari hook up with Eric Roberts and head out to Joshua Tree where they trip out on magic mushrooms in an attempt to sort out their lives. As the season winds down, Vince and crew find themselves back home in Queens. Even though things end on a high note for the characters, the show's creators litter the upcoming sixth season with a whole new set of hurdles for the characters, once again ensuring that the series remains fresh and vibrant. Like previous seasons, this fifth DVD instalment is light on extras, offering one feature on the season's list of guest stars (Martin Landau, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Bow Wow all make appearances) and a trio of episode commentaries. But that shouldn't deter fans from checking out another great season of a show that could have easily run out of steam three years ago. (Warner)
