Ever since Twitter accounts like @sosadtoday started going viral five years ago, being depressed online has become a popular aesthetic. One unexpected user that has embraced feeling totally sad, goth and cute RN is in fact one of the world's largest corporations, as Disney recently shared a meme about feeling dead inside.
The company's official Twitter page regularly shares teen-pandering memes utilizing the many characters from its film archive. For a recent Pinocchio meme, however, things took a dark turn.
As you can see above, Disney shared a video of the lifeless marionette with the caption, "When someone compliments you, but you're dead inside."
The post racked up 30,000 retweets, along with countless variations of the stock response "who hurt you?" before it was ultimately deleted from the web.
That said, while the joke is dark, it could have been a lot worse had Disney made a meme about how Pinocchio is a grower not a shower.
