Sorry, there's no Coach Taylor

While we've all been dreaming of more sweet, sweet Tim Riggins adventures since Friday Night Lights burnt out in 2011, it looks like we'll have to stick to fanfic. That said, H.G. Bissinger's novel is getting yet another adaptation in the form of a new film.

Following his buzzed-about Halloween reboot, director David Gordon Green is set to helm the latest Friday Night Lights movie.

According to Variety, Universal had tossed around the idea of creating a sequel to the original Billy Bob Thornton FNL film as well as a standalone movie about the series' Coach Taylor (played by Kyle Chandler). For better or for worse, they've decided to reimagine the source material with a new batch of characters.

Brian Grazer is set to produce the film, which does not yet have a release date.
