Damon Albarn's Electric Wave Bureau Pens Music for New Film 'The Kid Who Would Be King'

As if Damon Albarn didn't have enough projects on the go with Gorillaz and Blur and million other things, the Britpop hero now has a new soundtrack headed our way.

Albarn's music collective Electric Wave Bureau has penned the music for the upcoming fantasy flick The Kid Who Would Be King, Film Music Reporter points out.

The film is written and directed by Joe Cornish (Attack the Block) and stars Louis Ashbourne Serkis, Dean Chaumoo, Tom Taylor, Rhianna Dorris, Angus Imrie, Rebecca Ferguson and Patrick Stewart. It tells the tale of a 12-year-old British schoolboy who discovers the mythical sword Excalibur — an event that obviously has quite the impact on the young lad.

This isn't the first time Albarn's Electric Wave Bureau have provided film music. In 2012, they score the drama Broken, as well as lent songs to Lucy and the Paddington films.

The Kid Who Would Be King hits theatres on January 25 via 20th Century Fox. At this point, though, it's unclear if it will come alongside a stand-alone soundtrack release.
