Coroner Identifies 'Deadpool 2' Stunt Driver Who Died on Set
Yesterday, tragedy struck the Deadpool 2 production when a stunt driver died on set in Vancouver. Now, more details have emerged.

Upon the initial announcement, the stunt driver's identity had not yet been revealed. Now, the Coroner's Service of British Columbia confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that it was in fact Joi "SJ" Harris. She died at the age of 40.

In addition to being a stunt driver, Harris was also the first-ever African American professional road racer. In a 2015 interview with Black Girls Ride magazine, she said, "I am everything people never saw in this sport.... Sisters on the track are few and far in between. I want to show them that there's more for them to be exposed to. I want to get kids interested through experience."

The city's police department released a statement confirming the news, saying, "Vancouver Police can confirm that a female stunt driver has died on the set of Deadpool during a stunt on a motorcycle."

Eyewitnesses said Harris completed the stunt perfectly four time before crashing through a glass window on the fifth try.

Of the accident, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds said, "Today, we tragically lost a member of the crew while filming Deadpool. We're heartbroken, devastated… but recognize nothing can come close to the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must feel in this moment. My heart pours out to them -- along with each and every person she touched in this world."
