Here's Our First Taste of Colin Stetson's New Horror Film Score for 'Hereditary'

You can hear "Funeral" now

Colin Stetson has unveiled the first listen to his upcoming score for horror flick Hereditary, which has now been fitted with a proper soundtrack release.

On June 8, Stetson's soundtrack will arrive via Milan Records digitally, on CD and as a 2-LP vinyl set pressed on black wax. For a taste of that, you can now hear "Funeral."

The piece is precisely as eerie and suspenseful as a spooky soundtrack should be. Combining strings, chimes, drones and, of course, saxophone, Stetson has compiled a piece that's totally chilling — even before we get to see it paired with the onscreen action.

Speaking to Consequence of Sound, the musician revealed some of his influences for the project, citing Jóhann Jóhannsson, Autechre and Sun O))).

Hear how those artists' work inspired Stetson by scrolling past the full Hereditary tracklisting to stream "Funeral" below.
