Beloved early-aughts animated TV series Clone High is getting rebooted by its original creators, Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Bill Lawrence alongside writer Erica Rivinoja.
The reboot will continue with the original premise: young clones of prominent historical figures go back to high school and try to survive comedic coming-of-age experiences as they "face the trials and tribulations of normal teenage life."
So far, the series has yet to find a network home — but MTV Studios is set to helm the revived project.
"We thrilled to reunite with Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Bill Lawrence to re-imagine this cult classic as we rapidly grow our portfolio of beloved and iconic adult animation series," Chris McCarthy, president of ViacomCBS Entertainment and Youth Group, said in a release.
It remains unclear if Will Forte, Nicole Sullivan, Christa Miller and Michael McDonald will return to voice their characters. But according to a press release, the historical figures they played — including Abraham Lincoln, Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, John F. Kennedy and more — are set to be featured in the upcoming reboot.
So far, there has been no confirmation regarding the return of Gandhi (voiced by MacDonald) — the character that got the series cancelled in the first place.
The Canadian-American cult series ran for just one season back in 2002.
