Back in 2020, we got word that beloved — and prematurely cancelled — Canadian-American animated comedy series Clone High would be making its return after two decades off the air. A steady drip of updates have made the news feel increasingly real over the past two years, and now, showrunners Chris Miller and Phil Lord have another tidbit of infomation to depart.
Speaking with Collider's Steve Weintraub in an interview about the pair's upcoming Apple TV+ project The Afterparty, the co-creators shared that the series is already in its animation phase and that Lord would be reviving his role voice acting Principal Scudworth
"Well, this is the microphone that I use to do Scudworth, so we're recording voices, and it's a two-season order, so every episode is in some part of the process right now," he said. "It makes it a really busy time, but it's also really fun."
When asked when we can expect to see the new batch of episodes, Lord conceded, "That's a thing that actually I don't know," while Miller added: "I know that some of the episodes are in animation right now. But I don't know when it will actually be on the air."
Last summer, Lord had shared that he was "about to do a table read" alongside a picture of a script for comeback episode aptly titled "Let's Try This Again."
MTV is producing the two-season order for HBO Max. The show will reportedly "refresh" the show's original premise of young clones of historical figures going to high school and facing normal coming-of-age experiences. So far, cast members, release dates and first-look images have yet to be shared.
Clone High Season 1 was voiced by Will Forte, Nicole Sullivan, Christa Miller and Michael McDonald, among several special celebrity cameos. No word yet on who, if anyone, will be returning.
