China's Most Expensive Film Ever Pulled After Opening Weekend Box Office Bomb
A select few Chinese cinema-goers were recently treated to the fantasy epic Asura, which is billed as the country's most expensive film ever made. That said, not enough people checked it out — after a disastrous opening weekend with extremely low box office sales, the film has been pulled.

Asura reportedly cost 750 million yuan to make ($148 million CAD), and in its opening weekend, the film only brought 49 million yuan ($9.6 million CAD). Though producers plan to retool and re-release the film, it's currently the biggest flop in cinema history.

Though it boasts a star-studded cast and expensive CGI, the film was met with negative reviews. As The Hollywood Reporter explains, producers also think the movie was met with targeted negative user reviews from a "water army" of online trolls.

Whatever the case, the story surrounding Asura has us desperate to see it. Until then, you can watch the trailer for the film below.
