​Canadian Screen Awards Announce 2017 Nominees

The Canadian Screen Awards will return in 2017 to honour the best of Canadian film and television, and the nominees for this year's prizes have just been revealed.
 
Orphan Black leads in the TV categories, picking up an impressive 14 nominations, while Schitt's Creek earned 13 of its own, and Kim's Convenience snagged 11.
 
Also among the most honoured titles in TV are Vikings, Letterkenny, The Amazing Race Canada, Mr. D and the special live broadcast of the Tragically Hip's Kingston show, dubbed The Tragically Hip – A National Celebration.
 
In the realm of film, Xavier Dolan's It's Only the End of the World leads with nine nominations, while the Stephen Hopkins-directed Jesse Owens biopic Race garnered eight. Before the Streets, Operation Avalanche and Weirdos each received six nods.
 
The awards will be handed out in a Howie Mandel-hosted ceremony on March 12 at Toronto's Sony Centre. The event will be broadcast on CBC at 8 p.m. EST.
