A television adaptation of 1992 classic A League of Their Own is reportedly in development at Amazon. It will be helmed by Broad City's Abbi Jacobson and Mozart in the Jungle writer Will Graham.

The TV series won't be reboot of the film or feature familiar characters, but will rather offer new storylines about the Rockford Peaches during the inaugural 1943 season of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.

No deals have been confirmed, but Sony Pictures Television is rumoured to be producing the series.

Jacobson has, however, seemingly confirmed her involvement via Twitter.

The original film was directed by Penny Marshall, and featured performances by Geena Davis, Tom Hanks, Lori Petty, Madonna and Rosie O'Donnell.

It was previously adapted for TV in 1993, but the Sam McMurray and Carey Lowell-starring series only lasted five episodes on CBS.
