Bill Paxton's Cause of Death Revealed

Last month, the film and television community lost another icon far too soon when Bill Paxton died at the age of 61. Initial reports said he died due to "complications from surgery." Now, more details on his cause of death have been revealed.

TMZ has obtained Paxton's death certificate, which is viewable here. The document reveals that Paxton had suffered an aneurysm that required surgery. The surgery then resulted in a fatal stroke.

Specifically, Paxton had undergone valve replacement surgery after suffering an aortic aneurysm. Complications from that surgery caused his fatal stroke.

The initial surgery took place on February 14. Paxton then passed away on February 25.

As previously reported, Paxton is survived by two children, James and Lydia Paxton, and his wife Louise Newbury. The family's full statement on Paxton's death reads:

A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker. Bill's passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable. We ask to please respect the family's wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their adored husband and father.
