It's been three long years since Tim Burton suggested a new Beetlejuice movie was on the way, but sadly that no longer seems to be the case, as the sequel has been officially shelved.

According to USA Today, Beetlejuice is not coming back no matter how many times we say his name. Warner Bros. spokeswoman Candice McDonough told the news organization that "the project isn't in active development."

Further, when Burton was asked what was going on with the film, he said, "Nothing, nothing." Pressed further over whether the project would ever happen, he said, "I don't know. I doubt it."

Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian was greenlit after the original film made $77 million USD back in 1988. Since then, a number of rumours have surfaced and resurfaced with no concrete plans in place for the sequel. Unfortunately, it seems we now have to let it go.
