How closely were you watching this morning's Bill & Ted Face the Music trailer? If you were particularly observant, you might have noticed a quick cameo appearance from some Canadian rock royalty: Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler.

In the trailer, titular stars Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) appear before a futuristic council, led by Holland Taylor. Among the members of the council is Butler, wearing one of his signature bodacious hats.

Fan account @ArcadeFireTube pointed out the cameo. It was subsequently confirmed by Butler, who wrote in his Instagram stories: "Proud and humbled to be a member of the Future Council, formed on day 1 after the defeat of former president 'Basement Boy' in November of 2020."

Butler included a political message in his post, adding that "spending money on education, universal healthcare and universal daycare is better than prisons and policing."

Rewatch the trailer below, keeping an eye out for Butler (who appears at the 29-second mark).

In other music news, Kid Cudi appears in Bill & Ted Face the Music, playing himself. The film is out August 21.
