Published Nov 06, 2017Actor Harry Dreyfuss, the son of Jaws star Richard Dreyfuss, is the latest person to come forward with his own accusations of sexual harassment at the hands of disgraced House of Cards star Kevin Spacey.
In a new piece for BuzzFeed, the younger Dreyfuss alleged that Spacey groped him when he was an 18-year-old high school senior.
He recounted that his father was starring in Complicit at the Old Vic theatre in London (where Spacey was the artistic director from 2004 to 2015), and he went to visit during the holidays. One evening, Dreyfuss, his father and Spacey were reading lines at Spacey's apartment. Harry said that Spacey sat close to him on the couch, with Richard across the living room in a chair.
Harry alleged that Spacey put his hand on his thigh and said that when he stood up and moved to the other side of the couch, Spacey followed and once again placed a hand on his thigh. Harry said he stood up to move back to his original seat, this time placing his own hands on his thighs as a protective measure, but alleged that Spacey followed and "snuck in" his hand between Harry's right hand and right leg.
He said that Spacey then "crawled his hand from my thigh over toward my crotch," at which point, "My mind went blank." Harry said that he made eye contact with Spacey and gave a "meagre shake of my head," trying to warn him to back off without drawing his father's attention.
"I don't know how long we sat there like that," Harry wrote. "It could have been as little as 20 seconds, or it could have been five minutes. It's the hardest part of the story for me to recall. What I do remember is that, other than being a shy kid who obviously admired Kevin Spacey a lot, I never once gave him a signal that I would want to be with him in that way."
The younger Dreyfuss actor concluded the piece by explaining the "mental gymnastics" he did to try to "normalize" the experience in the nine years since it allegedly took place. He has since stopped downplaying the incident by joking about it with friends.
He told his father about it four or five years afterwards ("He was furious"), and is now thanking the women of the #MeToo campaign that gained traction in the wake of allegations against Harvey Weinstein for giving him the courage to publicly speak out about his own experience.

Anthony Rapp first detailed his own disturbing experience with Kevin Spacey late last month. Since those allegations went public, three other men have accused Spacey of sexual misconduct, and a number of the actor's House of Cards colleagues have detailed his pattern of sexual harassment in the "toxic" workplace.
Netflix has since confirmed that the sixth season of House of Cards will be its last and halted production on the show last week.
