A 'Charmed' Reboot Is Officially in the Works
Charmed, uh, charmed TV audiences for an impressive eight-season run between 1998 and 2006, but it looks like a totally new generation is going to get to experience the Aaron Spelling-produced show. The CW has announced that they are actively developing a Charmed reboot.

The script is currently being worked on by Jane the Virgin writers Jessica O'Toole, Amy Rardin and Jennie Snyder. So far, there aren't any clues as to who might star in the series.

The network has revealed one crucial twist, though. Rather than fastforwarding to present day, the reboot will serve as a prequel to the original series and take place in 1976.

The original show followed the story of three sisters, deemed the most powerful good witches of all time, as they used their magical powers to save innocent people from sinister demons and warlocks. It starred Shannen Doherty, Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs (and later Rose McGowan), and although time travel isn't out of the question in the Charmed universe, none of the aforementioned actresses have revealed any plans for involvement with the new series.

Combs did tweet her support for the upcoming reboot, though, sharing a simple: "We wish them well."
