Last year, we got a sneak peek of the animated adaptation of the classic underground comic The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers in the form of a three-episode special featuring Woody Harrelson, John Goodman, Tiffany Haddish and Pete Davidson. Now, the series titled The Freak Brothers is getting a full eight-episode season order, and some big names have now joined the effort.

The series, based on Gilbert Shelton's 1960s comics, is being helmed by Lionsgate and is now set to star ScHoolboy Q as a cartoon version of himself, WorkaholicsAdam Devine and Blake Anderson, Andrea Savage, La La Anthony and Futurama's Phil LaMarr, according to Deadline.

"This show is really funny, it's pure entertainment. If you're a stoner it's probably a little funnier, but either way it's a great ride," Harrelson said in a statement.

Goodman added: "I started reading The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers in the late '60s, and as soon as I had enough money I started collecting them. I'd stay up very late at night reading them…and sometimes into the next morning."

Harrelson, Haddish, Davidson, Devine, Anderson, Shelton and Manfred Mroczkowski will executive produce alongside King of the Hill and American Dad!'s Alan Cohen and Alan Freedland.

The show has yet to be picked up by a streamer.
