Watch Paul Rudd Pull Off the 'Mac and Me' Prank on Conan O'Brien's Podcast

"You can't do that on a podcast!"

In the absence of a visual medium through which to prank Conan O'Brien following the famed host's departure from late-night TV, best buddy and perpetual prankster Paul Rudd has taken to the podcast format to clown O'Brien with — you guessed it — another round of his favourite bait-and-switch game: playing a 20-second clip of 1988's Mac and Me on-air.

The long-running prank knows no bounds! As seen in the clip below, Rudd deceives his old pal Coco once again, despite the limitations of speaking with O'Brien on his new podcast, Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend. As he's done time and time again, the merry prankster convinces the host that he's about to queue up some sort of clip to share with O'Brien and his audience. This time, it was supposed to be a preview of a new narrative Audible series.

"We've recorded it," Rudd begins, coming off some pretty convincing summarization of an apparently fake project. "If you want to play a little bit of it…" he continues, to which O'Brien gleefully falls into the trap: "Sure!" he says.

"Oh for Christ's sake!" O'Brien yells, realizing he's fallen for the Mac and Me prank once again. "Why? Why?! You can't do that on a podcast! It's a visual joke."

"I know!" Rudd responds. "It's an audio medium!" O'Brien yells.

What medium is next? Carrier pigeon? Fax? Only time will tell. Watch (and listen to) the silliness unfold — yet again — in the clip below.
