If you want to see one of the most Italian comedy sets ever, go see Sandra Battaglini. With five minutes of material about homemade tomato sauce alone, she's almost brashly proud of both herself and her heritage. Her humour about typical topics like online dating and bratty families isn't groundbreaking, but it's a good time if you're just looking for an hour of straightforward joke-slinging.

Though Battaglini has been cast as a widow six different times, her comedy is far from grim; a recurring theme was shrugging off bad times like it was nothing. Battaglini's story about making tomato sauce in her garage peaked with the police telling her to go inside because they were doing a manhunt — she refused to leave the sauce behind while it was still cooking. Similarly, Battaglini found amusement in a series of unfortunate events that her mother thought were brought upon by God, plus she recounted how she had to be a party clown for children despite the fact that she has no balloon skills.

At the end of the day, the funniest parts of Battaglini's show were the ones that made you cringe a bit. Her story about overhearing a loud deaf racist was amazing, while her honesty about hooking up near a gas station on the 401 was brutally funny.
