As with anything else he does, the release of Norm MacDonald's new Netflix standup special had comedy nerds losing their damn minds. Released earlier this week, Hitler's Dog, Gossip & Trickery is nearly universally acclaimed, but there is one detractor: Norm MacDonald himself.
Speaking with The Daily Dot, MacDonald said he's not sure the special includes his best material. "Eh. It's dumb," he said. "I don't like it that much to tell you the truth."
MacDonald added that Netflix pieced the special together using footage from two shows, and he's not sure they were the best shows.
"I like the material. The material was strong enough to pull me through the special," he said. "If I had another chance to do it, it would be entirely different. The material would be entirely different. But, it is what it is."
Then, presumably with that perfect MacDonald deadpan, he added, "It's not that important anyway because it will still be one of the top 100 comedy specials that Netflix puts out this year."
