You don't pick your family, and unfortunately for My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way, Joe Rogan is in his.
The UFC commentator and podcast host confirmed the familial connection on the latest episode of The Joe Rogan Experience during a conversation with director Kevin Smith.
Smith said he had to ask a question on behalf of somebody else, then started hinting, "Your grandmother named Josie… Gerard Way, lead singer of My Chemical Romance…" to which Rogan responded, "Yeah, we're related."
Smith and Way recently announced they are working together, with Way reportedly set to score Clerks 3. He previously contributed an original song to Smith's 2014 film Tusk.
Apparently, when Smith told Way he was going on Rogan's podcast, the singer and graphic novelist said, "I don't have 100 percent confirmation on this, but I'm pretty sure Joe Rogan is my cousin because my Aunt Josie was his grandmother."
Rogan confirmed that they are cousins, but don't know each other.
Smith urged the podcast host to have Way on as a guest, so stay tuned to see if the family reunion ends up happening.
