Following a stellar debut, Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Fleabag has at last been officially confirmed for a second season. Today (August 25) BBC and Amazon confirmed they would be bringing back the intensely personal dark comedy in 2019.

Creator Waller-Bridge will return as the show's head writer and star in its second season, which is expected to premiere on Amazon Prime Video and BBC Three.

Speaking at the Edinburgh Television Festival, Waller-Bridge said she was "beyond thrilled to be coming back," BBC reports. "I asked myself if Fleabag has more to say and frankly she hasn't shut up since. Series 2 will be a whole new adventure."

The first season of Fleabag pulled in rave reviews from both viewers and critics alike, with the series being adapted from Waller-Bridge's award-winning play. The series was nominated for six BAFTA Awards in 2017, with Waller-Bridge winning the best female performance in a comedy prize. As of press time, it also boasts a 100 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.

So far, no further details of what might be in store for Season 2 have been revealed.
