Days after launching a pre-order for their yet-to-be-titled fifth album, Brand New have shared what appears to be new music with fans through a mysterious CD.

As Reddit user xdarthbane explained, the disc was mailed to him by Procrastinate! Music Traitors alongside a cryptic booklet. He also noted that the CD contains one track only, titled "44.5902N104.7146W" and clocking in at 61:27 minutes in length.

UPDATE (8/17, 5 p.m. EDT): Brand New have now confirmed all the details behind their fifth album, which is indeed called Science Fiction and now out digitally. Downloads are currently available here, while physical copies will ship in October. You can find the artwork above, and the 12-song tracklist is down below.

User jessevitelli pointed out that his CD was numbered 18/500, leading us to believe that a total of 500 copies of the disc were mailed out. As for the booklet, it includes the following text:

I am unsure what to do from moment to moment. My thoughts are acattered, always. When I see or hear recordings of myseld being excited, I am embaraseed, and find myself false and unlikeable. I have realized over time that people close to me identify me and unreliable, and absent, ans it is because in times when I am faced with a decision or responsibility that I am unable to shoulder, I isolate myself and ignore attempts at communication from others, instead of explaiming my difficulties or asking for help. I am scared of implementing my ideas out of fear that in actuality they will not be perfect, and that they, and I, will subsequently receive harsh judgement. I have outbursts of rage and despair when I am alone. I am attepting to uncreate this reality. I am finding peace in commitment to others, and in hard work, and in the forgiveness that other people show me when they are faced with my faults. Where and when will I die? And then, what will I become? What are the strings that tie me to you, across unknown planes, made of? Or are there even strings? Or am I tou? Are you, me?

Anyways, queen takes pawn... okay?

Bishop takes knight's pawn.

Huh, lovely move. Um... Rook to king one.

I'm sorry, Frank, I think you missed it. Queen to bishop 3, bishop takes queen, knight takes bishop. Mate.

Huh. Yeah, looks like you're right. I resign.

Thank you for a very enjoyable game.

Yeah, thank you.

We love you again.

Reddit sleuths have determined that part of the above quote comes from Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, while the coordinate track title points to the Devil's Tower, a site known for its inclusion in Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Other users have used music app Shazam to find the album's name and artwork. If the app's data is correct, the album is titled Science Fiction and its artwork can be seen below.
