Bono Reflects on 2014, Fears He May Never Play Guitar Again

U2 caused some controversy in 2014 with the release tactics used for their latest record Songs of Innocence. But the year also saw frontman Bono involved in a serious bike crash.

The singer has taken some time during his recovery to reflect on the past year with an A to Z list of musings on the last twelve months.

His introduction reads: "The consequences of this freak accident are significant enough that I will have to concentrate hard to be ready for the U2 tour in fitness terms… as a result I have cancelled every public appearance and decided this missive is all the communication I can manage for the first half of 2015, beyond muttering and singing to myself of course."

Mid-way through the list, he announces that there's a possibility he will never be able to play guitar again as a result of the bike accident injuries. Under the section 'I is for Irish Pride,' Bono mentions his green Irish falcon and reveals: "As I write this, it is not clear that I will ever play guitar again."

He seems to be keeping in fairly good spirits, however, following that up with: "The band have reminded me that neither they nor Western civilization are depending on this."

The rest of the list pays tribute to his family members, bandmates, inspirational figures from around the world like Nelson Mandela and Malala Yousafzai, and the mystery behind the sunglasses he is always wearing.
