Aziz Ansari Addresses His Sexual Misconduct Allegations in New Netflix Special

Aziz Ansari just released his new Netflix special Aziz Ansari Right Now, and in case you had any doubts, he indeed tackled the sexual misconduct allegations levelled against him back in 2018.

The Spike Jonze-directed stand-up special hit Netflix today, and Ansari basically starts off the show by addressing the massive elephant in the room right away.

"There's times I felt scared, there's times I felt humiliated, there's times I felt embarrassed, and ultimately, I just felt terrible that this person felt this way," the comedian says in the opening part of the special. "And after a year or so, I just hope it was a step forward."

He goes on to say: "I know this isn't the most hilarious way to begin a comedy show, but it's important to me that you know how I feel about that whole thing before we share this night together."

As previously reported, Ansari was accused of sexual misconduct by an anonymous accuser in a story published to Babe.net in 2018, claiming the comedian had pressured her into sexual acts she was not comfortable with.

Back in February, Ansari addressed the allegations, telling a New York crowd at one of this shows the same quote featured in the new Netflix special. (It's most likely this taping was used for the new Netflix special.)

On Aziz Ansari Right Now, he also closes the show by circling back on the accusations.

"I saw the world where I don't ever get to do this again, and it almost felt like I died," he says. "In a way, I did. That old Aziz who said, 'oh treat yo self' or whatever, he's dead. And I'm glad. 'Cause that guy was always looking forward to whatever was next. I don't think that way anymore. 'Cause I've realized it's all ephemeral. All that stuff, it can just go away like this. And all we really have is the moment we're in and the people we're with."
