Little Boots Announces Debut Album
4/9/2009 By Brock Thiessen

UK’s hotly tipped electro pop princess Little Boots has started leaking the details of her debut full-length. So far, we know the record is called Hands, due out in the UK on June 8 through Atlantic, and that the single “New In Town” will precede the record May 25 digitally and on CD, and on seven-inch and twelve-inch.

Also, we’ve been given the heads-up that the space-age fantasy image above will serve as the album cover, which according to Little Boots (whose driver’s licence reads Victoria Hesketh), was “inspired by old Italo covers like Patrick Cowley and Amanda Lear that have lots of space and fantasy themes that have run through my artwork from the start."

While speaking to NME, Hesketh added: “I think its there's a good mix of past and future in [the cover], which kind of reflects the album."

There’s no sign of a domestic North American release yet for Hands, nor is there a confirmed tracklisting. However, for the “New In Town” single, the Little Boots camp has tapped several remixers to rework the track, including Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos, the Golden Filter, A1 Bassline, the Death Set, Fred Falke, Semothy & Sheldrake and Bimbo Jones.

"For people to trust you and believe you, they have to see you a little bit. I'm not afraid to expose myself in that way," says Sara Quin, of sibling duo Tegan and Sara. The petite brunette has just led me into the heart of the east Vancouver jam space where she and her identical twin Tegan are rehearsing for upcoming tours. The room we're in is expansive, chilly and draped in darkness aside from a single strip of light in the middle of the room; she drags a sofa under the wimpy illumination and offers it to me, taking a straight-backed chair opposite for herself. "If we were a genre film," she continues, "we'd be a documentary."... Read More
