New Michael Jackson Song and Album Due Out in October
9/23/2009 By Brock Thiessen

Today (September 23), Sony Music confirmed that the label will be releasing a new Michael Jackson record, as well as a new single from the late King of Pop.

The song “This Is It” will hit shelves on October 12 as a single, just two weeks before the release of the concert film of the same name. The new track apparently features backing vocals by Michael’s brothers, who are again performing as the Jacksons, and will be included in an upcoming two-disc Jackson compilation, which will feature music inspired by the This Is It film.

"Disc one will feature the original album masters of some of Michael's biggest hits arranged in the same sequence as they appear in the film," says Sony, in a statement. "The disc ends with two versions of the never-released 'This Is It.' This song is featured in the film's closing sequence and includes backing vocals by Michael's brothers, the Jacksons."

On the second disc, the comp will feature previously unreleased versions of Jackson’s hits, as well as a previously unheard spoken word poem called "Planet Earth."

The double album, also called This Is It, is due out in North America on October 27 and a day earlier worldwide. The This Is It film hits theatres on October 28.
