The Consequences of Dreams
By Dave SynyardStarting off pretty heavy and typically melodic hardcore, The Consequences of Dreams does a good job of sticking to what it knows. Concise intro "Set The Tone" delivers a pretty straightforward chugging rhythm accompanied by gang vocals and melodic guitar tones, which transitions to "To The People I Consider Cowards," burning with speed and staunch hardcore sounds. The only off-putting part up to this point is the uncanny likeness of the clean vocals to Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump. The Consequence of Dreams doesn't suffer from this but it does take a little getting use to. The full-length debut from Riverside, CA's No Bragging Rights is a solid release that delivers exactly what it should; the band's use of breakdowns throughout contrasts well with their use of lighter vocals and instrumental sections, while their punk influences (gang chants, searing drums) create more variety.
