Strikemaster - Vicious Nightmare
By Greg PrattThis disc of Mexican thrashing, thrash-'til-death thrash originally came out in 2009, but may as well have been released 1999 or, yes, 1989. On the heavier side of American thrash, but not quite the full-tilt insanity of our German bros, Strikemaster actually quite admirably tackle the second tier, coming across like some modern-day Heathen. Or, you know, one of those bands that no one can ever remember what they sound like, but then you put it on and it's tons of great thrash riffing, songs that go on just a touch too long, a bit of looseness that doesn't quite work and lots of super-energy that does. This album is way too long though (49 minutes is a lot of thrashing when you're at this level) and after a while the lack of personality is a bit hard to swallow.
