This stoner rock split EP features two of the finest examples of the genre to hail from Canada's prairie provinces: Krang are based in Edmonton, AB, while Shooting Guns (who were long-listed for the 2012 Polaris Prize for Born To Deal In Magic: 1952-1976) are from Saskatoon. Both bands excel at creating thick, crunchy riffs and psychedelic, rock-influenced song structures, but where Krang have a smooth, whiskey-on-the-rocks groove to their contribution, "Shake Joint," Shooting Guns' "Sky High and Blind" possesses a sharper, more acrid aroma. Together, they form a balanced split that's just as much about the inner landscape and mental journey as it is parched throats and paranoia.
