The Malé capital progressive death metallers infuse a few sub-genres that support each other by influence and element atop varied vocal styles that form an intriguing tone. Guttural vocals and electronic synths reflective of Hatebreeder-era Children of Bodom on opener "Salvation" begin the record with the right amount of heaviness before delving into blast beat extremity on "Claymore." Repetition sets in throughout the album's core, yet the title track is immense support, with anticipated riffs and technicality. Synthesizers play a major role on "R.A.D.A.R.," where a peaceful interlude contrasts with the tremolo-laden verses. The lyrics are thought provoking, but not overbearing and, at times, poetic, shining on "Sins of Our Creations," showcasing the only clean vocals on Decadence, with a native accent and applaudable range. Considering this is their first serious release, Nothnegal have only begun to exhibit potential as musicians and progenitors of a new heavy metal scene. (Season of Mist)
