Evergrey - A Decade and a Half
By Laura WiebeAt two full CDs and 24 songs, A Decade and a Half is a broad summary of Evergrey's career so far. The band's latest double release combines two to three tracks from each Evergrey album, excluding only their 1998 The Dark Discovery debut. The song list is solid, covering live material from A Night to Remember, as well as studio tracks, but the selection seems somewhat haphazard, in "best of" terms, and the songs lose some of their impact out of the original contexts. The only new bonuses ― two previously unreleased "unplugged" songs ― don't add much to the collection's appeal either. A Decade and a Half is a decent retrospective, but the individual Evergrey albums show the band in a better light.
