A Thought Crushed my Mind
Blindside also mine the same Refused sounds, they seem enamoured with earlier, less adventurous Refused like Songs To Fan the Flames of Discontent. But they interject at least a slight amount of originality into their sound. The more melodic singing, acoustic string flourishes that recall Jane's Addiction's atmospherics on Ritual De Lo Habitual, and sloppier production help establish some distance, but the off-kilter metal riffs and screaming of Christian Kindskog immediately give away that advantage. Both Selfminded and Blindside have their share of good songs, but neither of the students measures up to the Refused.
