Paper Lions

The Seahorse Tavern, Halifax, NS, October 19

By Randi BeersThe room was packed for PEI darlings Paper Lions, who headlined the Seahorse Tavern for Halifax Pop Explosion's penultimate night. The quartet arrived on stage at 1 a.m. on the dot and quickly got to work, diving right into a drum-driven pop song held together with synths.

They drove the crowd's energy with a solid set of danceable pop rock, and the audience ate it up, dancing, singing along and giving out the devil horns. One guy was even standing there during the entire set giving the band the finger for some reason. Whether it was out of gratitude or disgust, he was feeling something, to be sure. The sound at the Seahorse was great as well, which was a big bonus.

High energy, tight music, great sound — Paper Lions brought all a person could really ask for.
