By Vincent PollardIn 2011, Jacques Greene was busy releasing several singles and remixing high-profile artists such as Radiohead and Katy B. The Montreal-based producer clearly isn't planning on resting on his laurels in 2012, having recently launched his label, Vase, and prepared Concealer, ensuring it'll launch in style. Like SBTRKT (and James Blake and Nicolas Jaar at their most danceable), Greene makes bass music that seamlessly blends house, techno, R&B and dubstep together to create a dynamic, modern sound. The EP features two collaborations: "Flatline" (featuring fellow Montrealer Ango) and "Arrow" (featuring young Glasgow, UK-based producer Koreless). It's near impossible to pick a standout track, as while the vocals on "Flatline" may veer a little too far into pop territory, "Arrow," "These Days" and stomping hi-hat fest "Clark" are all equally fantastic. Concealer is a great start for Vase and proof that Canadians, or Greene at least, can make quality bass music to rival the UK scene.
