White Whale
By Michael BarclayOn paper, it seems like a great idea for a band to play four gigs in three days during a festival like this. But scheduling a show before 1 p.m. on the afternoon after a headlining gig meant that the propulsive power heard on this band’s astounding debut album didn’t kick in until the last ten minutes of their set. In that time, however, they proved that their massive sound isn’t just studio layering and trickery, and despite his shredded voice, singer Matt Suggs tackled "The Admiral” like this laidback afternoon showcase was the most important gig of his life.
