By Gregory AdamsThough just last month we saw the release of Rave On Buddy Holly -- a tribute disc to the late rock icon featuring reinterpretations of his catalogue from Paul McCartney, the Black Keys, Lou Reed and more -- yet another all-star ensemble of musicians is about to salute some Crickets classics on the upcoming Listen to Me: Buddy Holly.
While a full tracklisting has yet to be revealed, the disc, which sees release September 6 via Rolling Stone's Songmasters series, will feature Zooey Deschanel, Brian Wilson, Patrick Stump, Jackson Browne, the Fray, Chris Isaak, Ringo Starr, Cobra Starship, Natalie Merchant, Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Nicks, Lyle Lovett and more. You can watch a clip of many of the musicians jamming and discussing the impact if the '50s rock legend below. Pre-orders for the set will start selling shortly.
The project's proceeds will go to the Grammy Foundation's "Grammy Camps" and Artists' House Music, both of which are programs that nurture budding musical talents.
