By Brock ThiessenSomehow it feels like ages since retro rock enthusiasts Yukon Blonde released their self-titled debut back in 2010. But lucky for us, the BC act are about to break their silence with a new EP.
The release has been dubbed Fire//Water and is due out September 20 via Nevado. The four-song effort was produced by Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, Ladyhawk) and, according to the press release, "marks a transition, foreshadowing an evolving sound for the band as they explore new territory in their songwriting and continue to grow as musicians."
Along with the new release the band have lined up a whopper of a tour, which see Yukon Blonde travelling all over the U.S. and Canada this fall and winter. In fact, dudes will be on the road right up until Christmas.
But by the sounds of things, they have a lot of new tunes to show off other than those found on this EP. The PR tells us, "Written partially while on the road, and partially while off the road at a cottage in the Comox Valley (BC), the band recorded a total of 15 songs over the course of the summer, and will soon be putting the finishing touches on the remaining 11 tracks that will make their way on to their sophomore long player in early 2012."
In the meantime, you can see those tour dates below and listen to the new Fire//Water track "Fire" at the bottom of the page. That's the EP's cover above.
