Vancouver's Music Waste Festival Announces 2012 Lineup with Apollo Ghosts, B.A. Johnston, B-Lines, Capitol 6
By Gregory AdamsSince 1994, Vancouver's Music Waste festival has offered up dirt-cheap ticket prices to catch countless local acts over the course of a weekend. Proving the event follows the tried and true mantra of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," the festival will offer more of the same in its 2012 edition.

Organizers unveiled the full lineup through their website today (May 24), announcing that the music portion of the event will run June 7 to 10. The party starts a few days earlier this year, however, with the comedy portion, appropriately titled Comedy Waste, kicking off at various local venues on June 4. Vancouver laugh-makers Sunday Service, Sister Act, Cameron MacLeod and more are scheduled to appear.

As for the music, June 7 starts up with a multi-level, 11-band blowout at the city's Waldorf Hotel, and it will include performances from B-Lines, Capitol 6, Peace and Vincent Parker, among others. Throughout the rest of the weekend, show spots will host Apollo Ghosts, Sex Church, Ketamines, Evy Jane, Kellarissa, the Shilohs, Slam Dunk, Ballantynes, WATERS, B.A. Johnston, Watermelon, Hermetic, Village, Chris-a-Riffic and more.

We're not sure if the nervous, pink keytar-playing pigskin Music Waste is using as its logo will make an appearance, but you can check out the full lineup over here.

This year also marks the debut of Music Paste, an all-ages art show collecting original gig posters designed by Vancouver artists Zach Bulick, Lindsay Chetek, Nicholas Goebel, Ariel Hitchcock, Jacob Kownacki, Carmen Leah, CHRIS-P, Kim Ridgewell, Daniel Sicolo, and Laure Stromboli. The one-night-only art show takes place June 9 at the Little Mountain Gallery, and will also feature a live performance from folkies Hallow Moon.

As with past editions, all shows will feature a $5 cover charge, while an all-inclusive pass runs for $15. You can nab a pass at Vancouver record shops Red Cat, Zulu, Audiopile and Neptoon.
