Update: Arcade Fire's Management Responds to Vincent Moon, Accuses Director of Theft
By Alex HudsonIn an interview published Monday (January 31) in Toronto's Eye Weekly, French independent director Vincent Moon called out Arcade Fire and their management, saying they were "awful, awful people." The band members have not responded to Moon's scathing comments, but manager Scott Rodger has fired back in the comments section at Consequence of Sound.

In a message posted yesterday (February 1), Rodger claimed that Moon had stolen from the band, and then went on to criticize the director for his alleged drug habit. His full comment is below:

Dear Vincent,

I'm one of the so called "not good people". Can we get the camera equipment you stole from the band returned yet? Perhaps if your drug habit could be contained you may actually be able to complete a film. We should have taken advice from our other friends who worked with you who advised us not to. But we thought it would be great. Unfortunately, we were wrong. Your move to "art films," that wouldn't by any chance be circumstantial, as no one is prepared to hire or commission you any more?

Telling the truth. It's not that hard, Vincent.

Now, can we get our equipment back?

thanks

Scott

Okay, so Rodger's comments are a little more concrete than Moon's vague potshots, which mostly consisted of unspecific criticisms like, "I have some really terrible stories with them." Still, we're not sure that making snide comment's about the director's alleged drug habit is going to make Rodger's sound like less of an "awful person."

Moon previously worked with Arcade Fire on La Blogotheque's Take Away Shows series and on the film Mirror Noir. Their collaboration included a clip of "Neon Bible" filmed in an elevator. See that below.

Hey Alex.

Snide comments? Whatever. The guy is talking shit about a group of people he let down and stolen from.

If has no drug problem at all, if all the stuff said is a lie, then fine, however, evidence points in the other direction. So really, are you calling a guy simply stating the truth out of major irritation "snide"?

Give it a rest, you pick up a sword and start cutting a swath, trust that there will always be backlash.

Way to attack the poor writer. He called Moon's comments "vague potshots" and Rodger's "snide." I'd say that's even. If dudes are going to air their dirty laundry in public, don't shoot the messenger. Both parties are being pretty lame, if you ask me. Like, really professional leaving some comment on a blog about this whole thing, Scott. And labelling someone a drug addict? Way to take the high road. And for mr. director, nice one are making totally vague accusations and then not backing them up.
Scott Rodger is a douchette
Scott Rodger, as anyone who's ever approached that band knows, is a major asshole.
Definitely - but I think it's a shame that he's dragging their reputation through the mud. The band themselves are really cool, but that guy is a huge asshole and so long as he represents them, people are going to blame them for his douchery.

If he had let this drop, for instance, it would already be a dead story. He couldn't pass up a chance to publicly attack somebody though, so here we are.
please more Arcade Fire! Win just looks so perfectly indie in his denim photoshoot.
