Tom Tom Club Ready 'Downtown Rockers' EP
By Gregory AdamsIt's been a dozen years since dance music troupe Tom Tom Club dropped their The Good, the Bad and the Funky LP in 2000, and the Talking Heads offshoot will finally follow-up that collection with a new EP titled Downtown Rockers.

The duo, husband and wife Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth, announced the new mini-effort through their Facebook page, but didn't quite deliver all of the details. They did, however, confirm that the recording will arrive September 4 digitally, and be issued on vinyl on September 11. That's potentially it's artwork up above.

A tracklisting wasn't given, but the digital EP will feature bonus tracks and a remix of the title cut care of Arthur Baker that the pair says is "amazing." Rolling Stone [via Slicing Up Eyeballs] reported in a piece preceding last weekend's unfortunately violence-stricken CBGB Festival in New York City that "Downtown Rockers" is apparently an ode to the club where Weymouth and Frantz cut their teeth.

"It was our incubator. It was very intimidating to perform," Weymouth said. "I only had my amp for two months before our first gig [in 1975]. I was just starting."

While The Good, the Bad and the Funky marks Tom Tom Club's last studio effort, they released the live album Genius of Live in 2010.
