Thomas D'Arcy Folds Small Sins, Gears Up for Solo Album
By Gregory AdamsFans of Toronto indie pop crew Small Sins, we hope you caught the troupe on tour last year, as it turns out those dates were their last. Band leader Thomas D'Arcy recently revealed that he'll no longer be penning tunes for the project, and is now paving the way for a solo career.

A message on the act's website explains that D'Arcy is already in the midst of making a solo album, with the artist confirming that he's been working on the as-yet-untitled disc for the better part of 2012. It should arrive sometime later this year.

"The record is very close to completion, and my work on it over the past year is the reason for my recent relative silence," he said. "I can say without a doubt though that the work I am doing currently is my best to date, and I thank you for your patience as I complete it."

D'Arcy has apparently been pretty busy, as a press release also hints at an upcoming covers album tackling English punk unit the Monks' 1979 LP Bad Habits in full. Rumoured to appear on the tributary collection are Sloan's Chris Murphy, C'mon's Ian Blurton and both Ryan and Kurt Dahle (Limblifter, New Pornographers).

Small Sins' swan song was 2010's Pot Calls Kettle Black.
