Surfer Blood Detail 'Pythons,' Unveil New Music Video
By Alex HudsonSurfer Blood signed with Warner Bros. way back in 2010, and now they're finally ready to drop their first album for their new label. We've been getting snippets of information about Pythons for a while now, but the '90s-loving Floridians have finally detailed the collection in advance of its June 11 release through Warner/Kanine.

The album was produced by Gil Norton who has worked with alt-rock luminaries like Pixies and Foo Fighters. Sessions took place at EASTWEST Recording Studios in Hollywood, CA, where the Beach Boys laid down Pet Sounds. A press release indicates that the album finds the band sticking to their guns while also crafting more expansive arrangements.

"We had never worked with a producer before and I think Gil's biggest strength was taking all of our ideas and helping us arrange them in a way that made sense," frontman J.P. Pitts explained in a statement.

The press release describes Pythons as a "timeless collection of songs that fit together to create a cohesive album and the perfect soundtrack to a summer road trip."

See the tracklist below and scroll past that to watch a video for the opening track, "Demon Dance." This shows Pitts as a mall cop who returns a lost wallet to a glamourous-looking woman in a red dress before embarking upon a fantastical romance replete with goofy costumes. It was directed by Malia James of Dum Dum Girls.

The album is available to pre-order here, and that's the "pythons"-sporting album art above.
